Liberty Day of Prayer
A Guide to
Praying for
Our City
London, England
We are so glad you are here. Today is a day set apart, a day to seek God together for our city, our church, and ourselves. Prayer is one of the most powerful things we can do. It is how we align our hearts with God's, release what is beyond our control, and invite His presence into the places that need it most.
History has been changed through ordinary people who simply chose to pray. This guide is designed to help you pray for an hour or more, walking you through different types of prayer, personal reflection, and focused intercession for London. There is no wrong way to use it. Just show up, be honest, and let God meet you there.
A simple model
An Order of Service for Your Prayer Time
- Start with praise and worship God before you bring requests
- Pray for those close to you: family, friends, coworkers
- Pray for leaders: pastors, your boss, teachers, people in authority
- Pray for the region: elected officials, the state of the country, London, and revival
- Pray for those in need: the sick, the homeless, people in trouble, and Christians facing hardship overseas
- Pray for yourself and your own needs

Praying With Boldness
Before you go any further,
pause and write these down.
Think about your family, your work, your church, the people in your life. What do you want God to do enough to keep asking until He does it? Write down 3 to 5 specific, bold requests. Do not keep them in your head. Put them somewhere real.
Write at least 3. Be specific. Be bold. Do not be afraid to ask for something big.
Intercession for the city
Following Through on What We Know to Do
Sometimes we already know what we are supposed to do. We just need the courage and clarity to follow through.
Pray For
- Clarity about what role you or your community is meant to play in this city right now
- The courage to act on that, even when it is uncomfortable or costly
- Leaders and pastors who can set aside personal ambitions and work together toward something bigger
- A new generation genuinely willing to do whatever is asked of them
- The ability to cut through distraction, half-heartedness, and spiritual drift
- A clear sense of what God is calling the church in London toward in this season
Ask Yourself
What is my part to play in this city?
Where am I holding back, and why?
Who do I need to work alongside that I have been avoiding?

Understanding What Is Really Going On in the City
Before we can address what is broken in a city, we need to see it clearly. Not just the surface problems, but the deeper patterns underneath them.
Pray For
- Eyes to see what is really happening in different neighbourhoods and communities across London
- Insight into hidden or underlying issues that do not make the news but shape people's lives
- Understanding of long-standing cycles, things passed down through history that still affect people today
- Wisdom to recognise how darkness shows up in systems: finance, entertainment, education, and politics
- Spiritual insight for those who are actively interceding and praying for the city
Ask Yourself
Where is real darkness concentrated in this city?
What are people placing their hope and trust in besides God?
What gives oppression a foothold here, and how do we address it?

Personal and Community Purification
Real change in a city tends to start with real change in the people praying for it. This is about getting honest about where we need to grow.
Pray For
- Genuine, honest repentance, not just guilt, but a real turning away from what is wrong
- Freedom from sin and the patterns that keep pulling us back
- Leaders and teachers who are living what they preach
- A return to the basics: prayer, fasting, and actually living differently
- Letting go of comfort and reputation as the main things we are protecting
- Families being restored and becoming places of genuine faith
Ask the Lord
Break the hold of compromise, the places where we try to have it both ways.
Remove anything fake or mixed-motive from our worship and community life.
Clean up the motivations of those in leadership.

Breaking Down Walls of Darkness
There are real spiritual forces at work in this city. This section is about praying against them directly and believing that things can actually change.
Pray For
- A collapse of the spiritual resistance that keeps people in London from encountering God
- Breaking of powerful strongholds over specific territories and communities
- The dismantling of spiritual blockades in neighbourhoods held down by cycles of violence, addiction, corruption, or immorality
- Believers to be freed from fear, to pray and act boldly
- A genuine, noticeable shift in the spiritual climate of the city
Ask the Lord
Let the wall of secularism, the idea that God is irrelevant, begin to crack.
Let indifference give way to spiritual hunger.
Let unbelief crumble under the weight of the evidence of God at work.
